Hospital Attendants

1. Patient Care

   • Hospital attendants spend a great deal of time with the patients, interacting with them as often as doctors and nurses do. This interaction includes a wide scope of responsibilities, with everything from reading to the patient to speaking with his family.
     

   Hygiene

   • The hospital attendant will assist patients in personal hygiene, particularly when the patient is unable to do so for himself. This includes bathing tasks and helping with brushing teeth, combing hair, nail care and dressing.
     

   Nutrition

   • Hospital attendants often play an active role in a patient's nutrition and day. The attendant will be responsible for serving regular meals and feeding food to the patient if necessary. The attendant also oversees physical activity.
     

   Mobility

   • If a patient has limited mobility, the hospital attendant assists with this. It can mean doing exercises with the patient to help him regain mobility. The attendant can also push the patient in a wheelchair and help him walk on crutches.
